Langtang Region is located to to the north of Kathmandu and bordering Tibet. It is protected as Langtang National Park and has a number of high peaks including 7,246 meter Langtang Lirung to the north, Gang Chhenpo (6,388 meters) to the south and Dorje Lhakpa (6,975 meters) to the east dominates the beautiful Langtang valley.
In this region the area contains a wide variety of climatic zones, from subtropical to alpine. Approximately 25% of the park is forested. Trees include the deciduous Oak and Maple, and evergreens like Pine, and various types of Rhododendron. Animal life includes Himalayan black bear, the goat-like Himalayan tahr, Rhesus monkeys and Red Pandas. There are also stories of Yeti sightings. The most popular places for this region are Gosainkunda Lake, Kyanjin Gompa, Langtang Valley. Also the trekker’s enjoy the Tamang people with their colorful culture and village life.
